This article is a theoretical review that aims to demonstrate the potential of the social technology of memory, developed by Museu da Pessoa (2009), in convergence with life history interviews as a methodological procedure aimed at research in communication area. The intention is to highlight how the social technology of memory and life history interviews can help in the search for answers in research in the sciences communication. For the development of this article, a bibliographic survey was used as a method. Since the method has its origins in social psychology and is used in several areas of knowledge, turns it self to the epistemology of communication and the notion of communication as a bond, conceptualized by Muniz Sodré (2014), to describe how the social technology of memory and life history interviews can be thought of from the point of view of communication and for research in communication. It is important to visualize aspects of the epistemology of communication, in order to understand the potential of life history and to trace paths that allow normalizing in which possibilities and for what purposes the method can be used. The results demonstrate that the use of life history associated with the social technology of memory brings possibilities to answering problems in the communication sciences and to act in the strengthening of the field, from the understanding of communication as a constitutive action of social phenomena. In addition, the life story interview was revealed as a tool for social transformation considering the direct association between individual and collective memory.
