Introdução: As neoplasias denominadas câncer, é o conjunto de mais de 100 doenças que juntas fazem com que ocorra o crescimento desordenado de células, onde as mesmas invadem tecidos e órgãos. Quando dividem-se rapidamente, essas células tendem a ser agressivas e incontroláveis, o que causa tumores e neoplasias malignas. Objetivos: Verificar a concepção das funcionárias da Universidade Católica Dom Bosco sobre Exame Papanicolau (EP) e Saúde Ginecológica. Material e métodos: trata-se de pesquisa de campo exploratória de abordagem qualitativa, descritiva, utilizando questionário realizado em duas etapas no período de março a abril de 2017. Resultados: A pesquisa foi realizada com 36 mulheres, com média de idade de 41 anos. Quanto a Escolaridade observou-se que 30,55% não tem o ensino médio completo e a renda familiar de 1 a 2 salários mínimo em 80,5%. No que se refere a saúde ginecológica das funcionárias 36 (100%) relataram que haviam realizado o exame preventivo. Referente ao objetivo do EP, 72,2% das entrevistadas na primeira fase e 36,1% na segunda fase acredita ser para detecção do CCU e 5,5% na primeira fase e 8,3% na segunda fase afirmaram ser para detecção de DST, mas 50% afirmaram serem ambas as opções. Conclusão: Pode-se dizer que durante a pesquisa, evidenciou-se que o conhecimento depende de todos, não apenas das mulheres, mas de uma parceria com toda a equipe de enfermagem. Por fim, ressaltamos que é preciso aprimorar o método de conscientização e conhecimento da população em geral frente ao assunto abordado neste artigo, para que ocorra uma busca efetiva no serviço de saúde, fazendo com que a incidência do CCU diminua junto aos fatores contribuintes para o mesmo.
