La Vigilancia en la sociedad líquida de Zygmunt Bauman: ¿es el temor una forma de consumo?La prolífica obra de Zygmunt Bauman toma, aborda y digiere un sinnúmero de temas que van desde la globalización, hasta el temor psicológico, con su toque distintivo. Junto a David Lyon, en su reciente traducción Vigilancia Líquida (2013), Bauman retoma en forma de diálogo sus tesis centrales respecto al consumo, la urbanidad, los dispositivos de gestión tecnológica y el temor al terrorismo entre otros tantos temas.Una de las cuestiones centrales para comprender su trabajo versa no solo en la idea de que el ciudadano moderno se ha transformado en una mercancía de consumo que debe luchar y competir con otros para ser elegido, sino en la búsqueda de orden y estabilidad. El hombre moderno desea ser aceptado, y ha desarrollado un terror manifiesto a la muerte simbólica, que no es otra cosa que la exclusión del sistema productivo.Si bien, Lyon y Bauman reconocen que el ataque a las torres gemelas no es la razón por medio de la cual se ha instalado una atmosfera de terror en el mundo entero, sí advierten que este evento ha sentado las bases para el proceso de "adiaforización". Dicho término denota una discrepancia entre la ética y la acción. La introducción de la tecnología como un instrumento de mitigación de riesgos, ha favorecido la vida social en muchos aspectos, empero no puede dejarse de observar que se ha creado "una falta" de predisposición ética del sujeto por su propia acción cuando media la tecnología.
