Este artículo determina las tasas de embarazo en usuarias de implantes Jadelle e Implanon y el porcentaje de continuidad de este método durante su uso en pacientes de un instituto prestador de salud (ips) del sur de la ciudad. A través de un estudio descriptivo se revisaron las bases de datos de 14.566 mujeres fértiles que asistieron a la consulta de planificación para portar el implante subdérmico entre 2014 y 2017. Gracias a esto, se encontró que la tasa de embarazo promedio en este periodo fue, para el Jadelle, de 2,81 por 1000, y para el Implanon, de 1,19 por 1000, lo que evidencia cifras mayores a las esperadas. Asimismo, se evidenció que la colocación del implante después de la fecundación es la principal causa del aumento de las tasas. El fallo de los implantes valorado por la presencia de embarazo es inferior al 1 %, pero para mantener esta cifra se debe realizar rutinariamente una detección precoz de embarazo.
