A síndromes de Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (V. Κ. H.) é uma uveomeningoencefsfiite rara que predomina na raça amarela, na idade de 30 a 50 anos, sem preferência para sexo tí . Cowper * dividiu a síndrome em três fases clínicas: 1) fase meníngea, que pode ser pouco intensa, passando às vezes despercebida, na qual ocorre febre, cefaléia, fotofobia, letargia, delírio, confusão mental e agitação configurando quadro de franca psicose, e sinais de irritação meníngea; 2) fase oftálmica, caracterizada por uveite bilateral, aguda, grave, produzindo não raramente glaucoma agudo e descolamento da retina; nesta fase geralmente aparecem defeitos importantes da visão, mesmo cegueira transitória ou permanente; essas duas fases iniciais da síndrome duram geralmente algumas semanas, excepcionalmente meses; 3) fase de convalescença, na qual são registradas as seqüelas oftálmicas ou outras. Na fase aguda ou na de convalescença da moléstia são assinalados sinais outros ditos secundários que podem ser: 1) cutâneos, como canície, poliose, leucodermia e alopecia; 2) neurológicos, como edema de papila, nistagmo, comprometimento transitório ou permanente dos nervos cranianos entre
