RESUMO O HUCFF é referência internacional em procedimentos de alta complexidade e pesquisas reconhecidas internacionalmente em diversas especialidades clínicas e cirúrgicas, formando, anualmente, cerca de 200 residentes e tendo, entre suas funções institucionais, a assistência à população, ensino qualificado e pesquisa científica. O Serviço de Ambulatório é a principal porta de entrada do Hospital à assistência terciária. OBJETIVOS: identificar o panorama das consultas realizadas pelo Ambulatório Especializado de Nefrologia no HUCFF entre 2011 e 2017 e analisar os impactos das diretrizes políticas no quantitativo de atendimentos no Ambulatório. MÉTODO: estudo retrospectivo das consultas médicas realizadas a pacientes com DRC em tratamento ambulatorial no período de 2011 a 2017, por meio de busca a registro de consultas agendadas, realizadas e não realizadas disponíveis no prontuário eletrônico da unidade. RESULTADOS: No período analisado foram realizadas 22.344 consultas de Nefrologia e Transplante (e também do Ambulatório Especializado em Osteodistrofia criado em 2015), com média de 3.192 consultas/ano. Nos primeiros três anos foram realizadas mais de 5.000 consultas/ano, porém o quantitativo de atendimentos foi diminuindo para uma média de 4.638 atendimentos em 2014 e 2015, alcançando o menor número em 2016, com 3.224 atendimentos, enquanto no ano seguinte (2017) houve um pequeno acréscimo no total de atendimentos (3.383). Com relação a capacidade de atendimento de prontuários extras, foram realizados 381 registrados ao longo dos sete anos estudados, sendo apenas 31 nos primeiros três anos (2011 a 2013). Porém, um aumento foi verificado nos anos posteriores (2014 a 2017), com uma média de 88 prontuários/ano (chegando a 113 em 2017), dos quais apenas 6% não foram abertos. CONCLUSÕES: apesar das dificuldades de provimento de pessoal, do persistente subfinanciamento, do sucateamento das unidades e redução da procura de estudantes de pósgraduação, não há registro nos períodos recentes de suspensão de serviços médicos.
