One method commonly used in the search for an understanding of the relationship form/process and materials is the identification and use of geomorphological sites. Thus, this work identifies geomorphological sites of shed located in a slope in the watershed of the Chiqueiro Stream, at the Depression of Gouveia -Espinhaço Meridional, using a Suunto clinometer and 2m poles. After measuring the gradient, 4 geomomorphic sites (GS) were identified. In each of them it was open a soil pit where surface materials were descript and samples collected for laboratory analysis of grain size. The material from Sites 1 and 2, located at the top and the middle slopes, show no evidence of effective mobilization of materials or significant morphological changes indicating that they are apparently in a state of equilibrium when compared to sites 3 and 4, located in low slope and floodplain. These have great mobilization of material and morphological changes, influenced by fluvial dynamics.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
