O presente artigo discute o alinhamento do Estado brasileiro com a política decombate às drogas norte-americana, cujo início remonta especialmente a década de70. A partir do manejo do arsenal teórico do filósofo camaronês Achille Mbembe,sobretudo dos seus conceitos de necropolítica e sociedade de inimizade, busca-sedemonstrar que a incorporação da guerra às drogas pelo Brasil aprofundou as práticasde extermínio da população pobre e negra em curso no país desde o período colonialescravista. Nesse sentido, conclui-se pela equiparação da guerra às drogas a umapolítica de morte que fornece aos seus alvos preferenciais apenas duas alternativas:prisão ou vala.
O presente artigo objetiva discutir o sentido de justiça na obra do filósofo francoargelino Jacques Derrida, entrelaçando-o aos conceitos de direito e de hospitalidade. A partir de revisão bibliográfica e de uma breve análise de caso que envolve a violação sistemática dos direitos humanos de refugiados nas fronteiras da Europa, concluímos que a justiça derridiana, uma promessa irrealizável, experiência do impossível, exige o aperfeiçoamento constante das leis e das políticas estatais realmente existentes, a fim de torná-las cada vez mais acolhedoras do rosto do outro, seja ele quem for.
O presente artigo discute o significado de uma tributação justa na obra de Thomas Piketty e o seu papel na construção pikettyana de um socialismo participativo para o século XXI. A partir de pesquisa bibliográfica, buscamos contrapor esse sistema tributário ideal proposto pelo economista francês, baseado num modelo progressivo, com a realidade da tributação no Brasil, um país historicamente marcado por profundas desigualdades sociais e pela concentração de riqueza. Verificamos que, apesar dos propósitos políticos fundamentais da Constituição Federal de 1988, que primam por um Estado Democrático de Direito e por uma sociedade justa e igualitária, o sistema tributário brasileiro assenta-se num modelo regressivo cujo funcionamento penaliza os contribuintes mais pobres. Desse modo, entendemos o sistema tributário do Brasil como o avesso do sistema tributário democrático idealizado por Piketty, assim como concluímos que o país carece de ideologias igualitárias fortes o suficiente para resistirem à sacralização neoliberal da propriedade privada e para impulsionarem uma verdadeira reforma tributária pautada na justiça fiscal.
