StreszczenieWprowadzenie. Próchnica zębów stanowi ważny problem społeczny, który współczesna stomatologia próbuje rozwiązać m.in. poprzez promocję zdrowia jamy ustnej. Obniżyć zapadalność na próchnicę, jak i choroby przyzębia, a tym samym poprawić jakość zdrowia całego organizmu można poprzez odpowiednie działania profilaktyczne. Cel. Ocena wpływu nawyków higienicznych i dietetycznych na stan zdrowia jamy ustnej u młodzieży licealnej na podstawie badania ankietowego i klinicznego. Materiał i metody. Badaniem objęto 131 uczniów klas o profilu biologiczno-chemicznym (w wieku 17-19 lat) z 6 liceów patronackich Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Poznaniu. Przeprowadzono anonimowe badanie ankietowe dotyczące nawyków higienicznych i żywieniowych, a także badanie kliniczne oceniające stan uzębienia, przyzębia, higieny jamy ustnej, zgryzu oraz stawów skroniowo-żuchwowych. Wyniki. Dwa razy dziennie lub częściej szczotkuje zęby 73,0% licealistów z Poznania i 69,1% spoza Poznania. Wykazano istotne statystycznie różnice pomiędzy uczniami z i spoza Poznania, m.in. w systematycznym myciu języka (odpowiednio 34,9% i 54,4%) czy też w stosowaniu płukanek do jamy ustnej (44,4% i 25,0%). Wnioski. W porównaniu z danymi z piśmiennictwa uczniowie wykazywali podobne nawyki i stan zdrowia jamy ustnej, jednak zauważono niepokojące zjawiska, takie jak niski odsetek uczniów prawidłowo szczotkujących zęby metodą wymiatającą (13,5%) oraz regularnie stosujących dodatkowe środki do higieny jamy ustnej (płukanki -34,4%, nić dentystyczna -12,2%). Konieczne jest prowadzenie dalszych działań edukacyjno-profilaktycznych adresowanych do młodzieży celem podwyższenia świadomości o znaczeniu zdrowia jamy ustnej.
