Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan eksistensi tata krama makan pada masyarakat Bugis di Desa Leppangeng, Kecamatan Ajangale Kabupaten Bone. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan data lapangan sebagai sumber primer dan data Pustaka sebagai sumber sekunder untuk menguatkan temuan data. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah antropologi budaya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan wawancara di lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tata krama makan masyarakat Bugis di Leppangeng masih dipertahankan secara turun temurun, meskipun ada perubahan-perubahan nilai akibat pengaruh modernisasi. Waktu makan dan minum adalah pagi, siang, dan malam. Ada pun tempatnya di ruang dapur rumah dan terkadang di teras rumah yang digunakan sebagai tempat sarapan. Pakaian dikenakan pada saat makan menggunakan pakaian rapi dan sopan. Laki-laki dewasa juga menggunakan peci. Tata cara makan biasanya mendahulukan kelompok laki-laki dewasa atau tamu, lalu kelompok perempuan. Masyarakat Bugis pedesaan umumnya menggunakan kappar (baki) dalam menyuguhkan menu makanan dan duduk melingkarinya. Isi kappar terdiri nasi, lauk pauk dan sayur yang di tata dalam bakul untuk nasi dan mangkuk atau piring untuk sayur dan laukpauk. Sikap pada waktu makan dan minum harus menggunakan tangan kanan. Pada saat makan, tidak diperbolehkan banyak berbicara terutama berbicara buruk, dilarang makan dan minum dengan berjalan atau berdiri, karena dianggap tidak beretika. Adapun, yang berteriak memanggil pada saat makan, maka tidak diperbolehkan menjawab, karena dianggap ganjen. Larangan tersebut, karena dikhawatirkan berdampak buruk pada sistem pencernaan.
