The Pairwise Comparison Matrices (PCMs) over an abelian linearly ordered (alo)-group G = (G, ⊙, ≤) have been introduced in order to gener- alize multiplicative, additive and fuzzy ones and remove some consistency drawbacks. Under the assumption of divisibility of G, for each PCM A = (aij), a ⊙-mean vector wm(A) can be associated to A and a consis- tency measure IG(A), expressed in terms of ⊙-mean of G-distances, can be provided. In this paper, we focus on the consistency index IG(A). By using the notion of rational power and the related properties, we establish a link between wm(A) and IG(A). The relevance of this link is twofold because it gives more validity to IG(A) and more meaning to wm(A); in fact, it ensures that if IG(A) is close to the identity element then, from a side A is close to be a consistent PCM and from the other side wm(A) is close to be a consistent vector; thus, it can be chosen as a priority vector for the alternatives
Recent changes in abortion practices may be associated with the current decrease in US incidence of PTB. Further study on the effect of surgical versus medical abortion is warranted regarding a possible effect on the incidence of PTB.
Pairwise comparisons have been a long standing technique for comparing alternatives/criteria and their role has been pivotal in the development of modern decision making methods. Since several types of pairwise comparison matrices (e.g. multiplicative, additive, fuzzy) are proposed in literature, in this paper, we investigate, for which type of matrix, decision makers are more coherent when they express their subjective preferences. By performing an experiment, we found that the additive approach provides the worst level of coherence.
The port of Naples is a city’s important economic resource, and represents a great opportunity for the development of tourism and improvement of businesses. We propose an application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process for the sustainable urban development of Naples port area, by focusing on economic, environment and social impact. Then, we perform a preliminary experimentation, by means of an opinion survey with a sample of students of Department of Architecture and Department of Economic, Legal and Social Studies. In particular, we get a ranking of the alternatives that highlights that the preferable alternative aims to improve services for tourism and leisure, to enjoy the sea and the monumental area
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
