The construction industry believes that Building Information Modelling (BIM) are able to reduce the problem faced by the infrastructure world. Nowadays, the construction industry faced many problems due to dependency on the traditional practice. Therefore, the application of BIM in the construction industry will help the construction projects become more successful. Fourteen (14) papers were referred through extensive literature review and the study aims to discuss the benefits and barriers of using BIM in the construction industry. Furthermore, the strategic planning being implemented the BIM within the next 5 years in Malaysia also been discussed.
The rising innovations of technologies, some companies have developed greed towards owning as many projects as possible. Those involved think that they are the only ones who should be handling complex works as they are the only ones who have the right equipment to do the right job. This act of greed in the business world is known as ‘monopoly’. Twenty three (23) papers were referred through extensive literature review in order to know types of monopolies, factors causing the monopoly and proposed solution to minimize monopoly among conatruction players. As a result, contractor became the most contributor to monopoly due to croinism. In order to minimize the monopoly, one should enhance the competitive advantage, embrace the sustainable development and transparency in decision making.
This project is carried out to study the evaluation of influencing factors for sustainable development with intelligent building systems in private universities in Klang Valley. An intelligent building system can be defined as a building automation system that is integrated into the physical plant and building facilities and linked with the corporate systems to ensure the building management system can be brought up to date on the building operating cost, and energy efficiencies of the building. Questionnaire surveys were distributed to collect the data. Descriptive analyses were used to analyse the data using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The study showed that the main barriers to implementing Intelligence Building System (IBS) were the high initial cost. The benefits of using IBS were reduced waste, pollution, and environmental degradation. The potential chances in implementing IBS were using sustainable building materials, and recycling and reuse of materials. The ways to deal with these issues are to learn, understand, and accept, then apply the intelligent building system in the campus and try to keep up with the latest technology and innovation to increase the quality of life and productivity of the people like lecturers, students, admin staffs who are using the campus every day.
In the construction industry plant and equipment one of the important and main sources is to increase productivity of the project. To keep available the plant and equipment need all of technical, administrative, managerial action during the whole life cycle of the project. The study investigates about issue of plant and equipment maintenance management in Malaysian Construction Companies. The aim of this research paper is to improve the efficiency of plant and equipment maintenance management in Selangor construction industry by using Computerize Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The initial stage of the study involved comprehensive literature reviews to gather the data about importance of maintenance, previous implemented maintenance system and types of maintenance system as well as information about Computerize Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Quantitative research approach was adopted through questionnaire surveys. The analysis method is mainly derived from descriptive analysis. Thus, this paper explored the potential application to reduce total downtime and failure of plant and equipment by improving the effectiveness of maintenance management system. This system is computer based program simplifies and decease the duration of finding fault compare to the presently used paper-based reporting.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
