T. T. Wu's postulate for the vertex function proposed to reproduce the exponential decrease of the high-energy large-momentum-transfer cross section is studied in terms of the 10st-Lehmann-Dyson representation, its weight function being adjusted appropriately in a large momentum region.0° Since the high-energy large-angle data on the pjJ-elastic differential cross section became experimentally available,1) there have appeared a great number of empirical and theoretical studies concerning the large-angle processes. At an early stage, Orear 2 ) pointed out that the available data have a strong dependence on transverse momentum transfer and can nearly be reproduced by the simple exponential formwhere v-S is the incident energy in units of Ge V / c, and e is the scattering angle in the center-of-mass system. *) The formula (1) spurred many theoretical Illvestigations,3)~5) which more or less discussed its asymptotic form, i.e. d(J_=O [exp (-_l Vslsin e l )] dQ 0.3
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
