Fig. 1 A 32-year-old female was admitted with anuria. A contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography (CT) had been previously performed. A plain abdominal CT examination was performed 31 h after the contrast CT. This revealed enhanced kidneys (left) and retention of enhanced fluid in the gallbladder and colon (left and right), showing that a large amount of contrast medium can be excreted into bile in patients with severe renal failure. The patient recovered from acute renal failure after receiving hemodialysis several times.
