Objetivo: compreender quais são os efeitos que a prática do pilates promove nas alterações posturais. Materiais e Métodos: a coleta de dados ocorreu entre os meses de junho a outubro de 2022 por meio de consulta às bases de dados científicas PubMed, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e Scielo. Associado a isso, serão utilizados os descritores e operadores booleanos: Pilates AND má postura, pilates AND lombalgia. Resultados: o método pilates pode ser praticado por todas as faixas etárias por visar à necessidade individual de cada um e tem sua prescrição ampla para reduzir os desconfortos da região lombar. Ele é muito recomendado por ter a capacidade de promover alinhamentos corporais, melhorar flexibilidade, corrigir alterações musculares, fortalecimento da musculatura que auxiliam na postura, com isso, atua em caráter preventivo e contribui para a reabilitação. O pilates, quando planejado e estruturado pelo instrutor, seguindo os princípios básicos do método, pode proporcionar eficazes resultados para o aumento da saúde e da qualidade de vida dos praticantes. Assim, melhora a funcionalidade do corpo, fortalece e alonga a musculatura como um todo. Considerações finais: o método de pilates auxilia na capacidade física, manutenção corporal, melhora das habilidades e possibilita trabalhar o corpo de forma global, corrigindo a postura, realinhando a musculatura e desenvolvendo a estabilidade corporal, força e equilíbrio.
