Introduction: Sexual dysfunction is one of the most common causes of family breakdowns. In recent years, various approaches have been proposed to resolve this issue. The present study was carried out in order to examine the effect of cognitive-behavioral consultation on sexual function among women who had referred to health centers in Hamadan. Method: A randomized clinical trial was conducted in two groups. It focused on 198 qualified women who had referred to selected health centers of Hamadan in 2016. The participants were selected by simple random sampling (99 people in each group). The intervention group received four 2-hour sessions of cognitive-behavioral group consultation. The required data were collected using a questionnaire of demographic characteristics and Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). For ethical considerations, by the end of the study, sexual counseling for the control group was provided. To analyze the collected data, SPSS 13 was employed; t-test was used for independent samples. ANCOVA was also utilized. The significance level was set at 0.05. Results: The results showed that the two groups were not significantly different in terms of mean pretest scores in all domains, except for sexual satisfaction and total sexual function. However, after cognitive-behavioral consultation sessions, the intervention group experienced a significant increase in all behavioral domains and total sexual function as compared to the control group. Conclusion: Cognitive-behavioral consultation among women can play a positive and effective role in improving sexual relationships. Therefore, the effectiveness of this type of consultation can be confirmed with more certainty.
Introduction: Cardiovascular surgeries are among the conventional surgeries aimed at increasing the survival rate and improving the quality of life of patients. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of cardiac rehabilitation on quality of life of patients undergoing Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. Methods: This was a semi-experimental study performed on 160 patients undergoing CABG surgery. The rehabilitation program was carried out for 13 weeks (three sessions per week) in 40 sessions, six weeks after the CABG surgery. The MacNew standard questionnaire and the general health questionnaire (S-f 36) were completed before the beginning of rehabilitation sessions as well as after completion of these sessions by patients. Results: According to the results, the quality of life of patients significantly increased in the physical and emotional areas after the rehabilitation program. The results also indicated that there was a significant difference between various levels of research in the physical functioning variables, dysfunction due to physical health, dysfunction due to emotional health, energy/fatigue of individuals, emotional well-being, social functioning, pain, and general health. Conclusions:The present results indicated the improved quality of life of patients in all the areas after cardiac rehabilitation intervention, compared to before that. Therefore, paying more attention to cardiac rehabilitation is necessary due to its positive effects on increasing the quality of life of patients.
Background: Marital quality reflects the individual's total evaluation of marital relationship. The present study was carried out to examine the effect of cognitive behavioral consultation on marital quality among women. Aims and Objectives: The present study was a randomized clinical two-group trial which was carried out using a pre-test and post-test design on 198 qualified women who had referred to the selected healthcare centers in Hamadan in 2016. Materials and Methods: The intervention participants received four 2-h sessions of cognitive behavioral consultation. Demographic information questionnaire and marital quality scale were completed by the two groups before and after the intervention. To analyze the collected data, independent samples t-test, covariance analysis, or change analysis were employed using SPSS 21.0 software. Results: The mean age in the control group and the intervention group was 23.58 ± 7.54 and 35.04 ± 7.91 years, respectively. Covariance analysis was utilized to examine the marital quality scores. In this analysis, after the variables of age, marital quality score of agreement and satisfaction before the intervention and income status were modified, the total marital quality score experienced a significant change in all dimensions (P < 0.05), and the mean scores increased remarkably. Moreover, according to the cutoff point of the dimensions, the scores of all dimensions increased remarkably and the proportion of individuals with high marital quality before and after the intervention changed significantly (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Due to the role of sexual relations in stabilizing marriage, cognitive behavioral consultation was effective in improving marital quality, especially after agreement, and can be used in healthcare centers to improve the relationship between couples and reduce divorce statistics.
Background: In the COVID-19 epidemic, pregnant women, fetuses, and newborns are a high-risk population that is more susceptible than the general population. These groups are more susceptible to serious respiratory illnesses and pneumonia because of their weakened immune systems. This study compared maternal and neonatal outcomes in postpartum women with COVID-19 with similar healthy women at the hospital Study Design and Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, the characteristics of 100 pregnant women with COVID-19 (confirmed by a positive PCR test during pregnancy) were compared to 150 healthy pregnant women who were referred to Fatemieh Hospital in Hamadan from March, 2020 to February, 2021. The maternal and neonatal outcomes were collected from the medical record of patients and analyzed using SPSS software (Ver. 26). Results: No significant differences were observed in the average ages (± standard deviation) of the two groups of COVID-19 (30.25 ± 6.24 years) and healthy (29.48 ± 6.73 years) women. In this study, pregnant women were infected with COVID-19 from weeks 7 to 41 of gestation, with a median infection time of 35 weeks. The odds ratio (95% confidence interval) of pre-eclampsia and preterm birth was significantly higher in women with COVID-19 than in healthy women with the following values 2.79 (1.61, 7.34) and 22.26 (2.86, 173.33), respectively. Conclusion: Pregnant women suffering from COVID-19 had considerably greater rates of gestational issues, neonatal difficulties, pre-eclampsia, and premature delivery, according to the findings of this study. During epidemics, it is advised that pregnant women and their newborns receive more basic care.
