Nowadays they're family's chiefs in a poor neighborhood of Recife. The migration process implied in adaptations and reformulations of the traditional rural knowledge for a new lifestyle and urban work, which workout as their survival strategies and resistance. The data reveal that the current conditions of life and economic situation of migrants' families are associated to a context of social-economic vulnerability, linked to their life histories, marked by poverty, violence and work. As female workers migrants we analyzed are settled in a precarious frame of precariousness, informality and job feminization. Gender relationships are constituted in an ambivalent frame, moving between traditional and modern postures, being the domestic sphere, paradoxically, a locus of inequalities (sexual division of labor, domestic violence) and empowerment (due to the feminine economic provision centrality).
