Marine debris has become the world’s attention from various aspects. The survey was conducted in April and May 2019, at 6 coastal locations on Dullah Island which have a coastline of 74,796 km. The purpose of this survey is to find out how beach orientation and beach exposure affect the type of marine debris that accumulates on the beach on the coast of Dullah Island. The survey results show that statistically, there is a very significant and positive correlation between island orientation and beach exposure with total accumulation of marine debris, but negatively and insignificantly correlated with accumulation of plastic debris, ie; the greater the beach exposure will accumulate total debris the sea but conversely the greater beach exposure causes light plastic debris to be swept from the beach by waves and tides. Of the average total marine debris, 46% consists of plastic items while the most plastic clusters that accumulate on the beach are “common items” (53%).
As archipelagic region, an effort to effectively enhance and accelerate the development of each sub-districts to boost the rapid development of Southeast Maluku district in Indonesia cannot happen as long as the local government fails to identify the real potentials and power in fisheries sector of each sub-districts. Identification of each sub-district fisheries top sub-sector has to be based on the human resources, natural resources, infrastructure, current and potential market, current policy of local and central government. A multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) is one of the powerful tools to provide a better result based on complicated factors involved. This paper proposed an integrated MCDM, to tackle the complicated factors in order to provide the best commodities on each sub-districts. Bottom-up concept was used to have a comprehensive result, by combining Fuzzy logic with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to measure the factors using fuzzy logic with Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) for determining the top sub-sector in fisheries. For comprehensive assessment of macro factors the study used experts ranging from government, scientists, practitioners to NGOs. On the other hand, for micro factors the survey used field instructor, field officer, fishers and farmers. The results provide a guideline for local and central government to form a better policy regarding the development of each sub-district including farmers, fishers and coastal communities in each subdistrict to focus on commodities that benefited their regions' resources and coastal community's capabilities. By doing so, we hope to contribute on crafting an integrated and collective path on reaching the goal which is the welfare of coastal region. .
The high-use activities, the lack of information and data on the ecosystem as a basic reference for management of coastal areas of the Subdistrict North Dullah. This study aims to determine the potential and distribution of major ecosystems and analyze the rate of change in a certain period of time based on image interpretation. Based on the results of image analysis will be known the extent and distribution of major ecosystems, are then compared with some of the imagery in the past period of time to analyze the rate of change. This research was conducted in the coastal region of North Dullah Subdistrict Tual City. The imagery analysis used the transformation of depth invariant index and supervised classification. Landsat 8 year 2014 image interpretation shows coral reef extents are 1934.82 hectares while for sea grass extents are 614.43 hectares. In 2004 to 2009 there was a increase in coral reef ecosystems extents to 133.56 hectares (4.78%), while for the seagrass ecosystem extents increase to 84.69 ha (14.58%). In 2009 to 2014 coral reefs extent decrease to 992.16 hectares (33.89%) while for seagrass extents decrease to 51.21 hectares (7.69%).
This study aimed to determine mapped of the substrate (habitat) of the bottom shallow waters at Tayando District, Tual City with Landsat 8 imagery satellite. We used transformation blue and green bands with depth invariant index algorithm Y = ln Band 1 + (ki/kj) ln Band 2 on mapped the basic characteristics of the bottom shallow water. The classification of the imagery transformation by using shallow marine water habitat classification scheme based on color pallet and the result showed there were five classes on bottom substrate at Tayando District, those were sand, sand mixed coral, dead coral, coral reefs and seagrass.
As a archipelagic region with rich marine biodiversity, the abundance of raw material of fishes and other marine resources are high. This advantage should be capitalized to enhance and spread the welfare of coastal community in the region. Fisheries agroindustry is way to boost sustainable economic of a coastal region. Although, to select the appropriate sub-district as the best suite location for either fishes-based agroindustry and marine culture-based agroindustry have to face a complicated barriers, therefore the purpose of this study is to select the suitable sub-district location as the center of fishery agro-industry in Southeast Maluku Regency based on several related factors such as resource potential, number of fishermen and farmers, number of production per year, supporting infrastructure and transportation. The method used in this study is spatial analysis with ArcGIS with utilizing weight overlay to process all the data based on experts perceptions. The results of this study are expected to be a comprehensive guidance for policy makers in this region in the context of sustainable regional development. The paper offers specific path based on empirical evidence for sustainable development in fisheries sector of Southeast Maluku District.
