This paper presents a research to develop a BCI control system based on EEG by using a low cost signal Emotiv EPOC acquisition headset. The stages of signal acquisition, pre-processing and classification are analyzed in comparison with previous encouraging results achieved by the authors employing the BCI Competition III set V data. The main previous contributions have been founded on the application of a Neuro-Fuzzy S-dFasArt processing method, where the success rate achieved at the classification stage has clearly overcome the results of the BCI Competition winner. The objective is to reduce the number of characteristics taken into account to complete the classification task while maintaining and even improving the success rate of the scheme for the whole montage. This methodology decreases the computational burden allowing an on-line processing and classification when applying EEGs in real time systems.
