Kampfdrohnen für die Bundeswehr? Die Republik diskutiert über Drohnen -genauer: über Verteidigungsminister Thomas de Maizière und das millionenschwere Beschaffungsdebakel beim Euro Hawk. Allerdings droht der Streit über politische Verantwortung, administrative Mängel und persönliche Versäumnisse eine grundlegende Debatte zu ersticken: Braucht die Bundeswehr solche Aufklärungssysteme? Der Minister liebäugelt sogar mit der Anschaffung von Kampfdrohnen. Bis Ende des Jahres hält er eine Auswahlentscheidung für möglich, die dem neuen Bundestag zur Bewilligung vorlegt werden könne. Solche Waffen seien -wie anderes Militärgerät auch -ethisch neutral. Das mag auf den ersten Blick empören. Schließlich handelt es sich um jene Systeme, die die USA zur gezielten Tötung von Terrorverdächtigen einsetzen. Auf den zweiten Blick erscheint die KampfdrohnenOption nur konsequent. Denn die Bundeswehr ist seit Jahren eine Armee im Einsatz. Und verdienen ihre Soldaten und Soldatinnen nicht den bestmöglichen Schutz -auch durch unbemannte Waffensysteme?
