Sie bringt aber auch das gläubige Welt-und Selbstverständnis des Menschen sowie die konkrete Lebenswirklichkeit der feiernden Gemeinde zum Ausdruck, in die hinein der Glaube kontextuell übersetzt wird. Zwischen liturgischer Feier und Lebenspraxis besteht deshalb ein konstitutiver Zusammenhang. Lob und Dank für die Schöpfung als wesentliche Aspekte der Liturgie können nicht ohne Auswirkung auf den Lebensstil und den konkreten Umgang mit der Natur bleiben, denn sie führen zu einer Grundhaltung der Ehrfurcht und des Respekts nicht nur dem Schöpfer, sondern auch der Schöpfung und den Geschöpfen gegenüber (Franziskus 2019). In diesem Sinn stellt die Liturgie eine der vielen Quellen für das ethische Handeln gegenüber der Schöpfung im Allgemeinen sowie den Geschöpfen im Speziellen dar.Im folgenden Beitrag soll gefragt werden, welcher Stellenwert den Tieren in der Liturgie der Kirche zukommt. Wird der Befund den gegenwärtigen exegetischen und theologischen Reflexionen über die Tiere sowie den unterschiedlichen Bedeutungen, die Tiere im Leben vieler Menschen haben, gerecht? Liturgie als Verlebendigung und Vergegenwärtigung des HeilsmysteriumsWas tut die Kirche, wenn sie Liturgie feiert? "Liturgie" meint wörtlich das "Werk des (gläubigen) Volkes". "Ins Werk gesetzt" wird der lebendige Glaube der Kirche. Liturgie spiegelt eine interpretierende und zugleich verobjektivierte menschliche Glaubensperspektive auf die Welt, die Geschichte und den Menschen wider. In ihr wird die Heilige Schrift in das Leben der Gläubigen als Gemeinde und als Einzelne hinein konkretisiert und realisiert (Martin Stuflesser/Stephan Winter 2004). Durch die Rückbindung an die Texte der Bibel wird die feiernde Gemeinde zeit-und raumübergreifend in die Heilsereignisse der Geschichte eingebunden, 1.
Christentum und Tiere? Franz von Assisi, dessen Predigt auch Vögel gelauscht haben sollen und der jedes Geschöpf als Bruder oder Schwester angesprochen hat, und Albert Schweizer, der sich mit jedem Lebewesen durch Wesensverwandtschaft und Schicksalsgemeinschaft verbunden wusste, sind Namen, die damit assoziiert werden. Vielleicht noch Philipp Neri, der Katzen und Hunde liebte und aus Tierliebe kein Fleisch aß, oder -zumal in der katholischen Tradition -der eine bzw. die andere Heilige, dessen bzw. deren Attribut ein Tier ist: die Evangelisten Markus, Lukas und Johannes mit einem Löwen, Stier bzw. Adler; Antonius, der Mönchsvater, mit einem Schwein und weiteren Wildtieren; Hieronymus mit dem Löwen, aus dessen Pfote er, so die Legende, einen Dorn entfernt hatte; Leonhard, der Patron des Bauernstandes, mit einem Rind; Agnes mit dem Lamm; Hubertus, der Patron der Jäger, mit dem Hirsch; Kolumban und Korbinian, ebenso Romedius von Thaur mit einem gezähmten Bär etc. Die Tiere als Attribute von Heiligen symbolisieren jedoch meistens eine Charaktereigenschaft oder ein Ereignis aus dem Leben dieser Menschen, sie spiegeln in der Regel nicht ihre Beziehung zu den dargestellten Tieren wider. In der Volksfrömmigkeit hat sich die Darstellung von Heiligen mit Tieren nicht unbedingt in einem verantwortungsbewussten Umgang der Menschen mit den jeweiligen Tieren niedergeschlagen. Eher haben "katholische Bildsymbolik, kirchliches Brauchtum und religiöse Feste die traditionelle Lehre von der Herrschaft des Menschen über die Tiere tief im kollektiven Gedächtnis vieler Katholiken verankert" (Kurt Remele 2016, 109-110). Tatsächlich ist das Christentum weitgehend geprägt von philosophischen Einflüssen und einer Tradition der Bibelauslegung, die den Menschen gegenüber den Tieren eine Vorrangstellung einräumt, die als Legitimation dafür gedient hat, Tiere auf der dinglichen Ebene anzusiedeln und als Ressource zu nutzen. Im Lauf der christlichen Tradition hat eine Weltdeutung und Haltung gegenüber den Tieren Oberhand gewonnen, die Papst Franziskus in seiner Umweltenzyklika Laudato si' (2015) als "despotischen Anthropozentrismus" anprangert, "der sich nicht um die anderen 1.
