This paper describes a peer corinselor training program designed to train strident volrtnteers to lie& their fellow striderits witla a wide range of diffirilties caused or exacerbated by rtiedical training. The training progrant is described in detail, demographic cliaracteristics of !lie participants are con pared to those of the rest of the strident body, and die activities of the peer corinselors are reported. The students did not differ significantly front the rest of the strident body by age, race, gendec or academic standing. Eight percent of the sticdetit body used the services of the peer counselors, and two students were directed into treatment for alcolioliwi.
