El presente artículo es resultado de un trabajo investigativo cuyo objetivo converge en la profundización de los procesos evaluativos en personas ciegas, las metodologías de enseñanza-aprendizaje y la inclusión. El trabajo se desarrolló en torno al interrogante acerca de cómo el seguimiento y la evaluación formativa en las personas ciegas garantiza un óptimo desarrollo en los procesos educativos y, asimismo, una educación de calidad. Además, se traza a partir de un enfoque cualitativo de alcance descriptivo y diseño etnográfico, con las técnicas de: observación, encuestas a 14 docentes que atienden a estudiantes ciegos de la Licenciatura en Música de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC) en Tunja, Boyacá, y el análisis de documentación. En suma, la fase de resultados definió que la inclusión, aunque debería estar arraigada en las prácticas pedagógicas, todavía no alcanza su horizonte pedagógico para atender a los ciegos, de ahí que en la universidad la evaluación no se sustente en las necesidades, el ritmo escolar y las particularidades de cada sujeto.
