Introducción: Los enfoques más recientes de la comunicación en salud se refieren a la importancia concebir los grupos sociales como protagonistas de las transformaciones relacionadas con su calidad de vida y al reconocimiento de la interacción social como eje central en los procesos comunitarios orientados al cambio. El artículo describe el proceso multidisciplinario de construcción de un proyecto de comunicación para la salud oral orientado por una herramienta educativa lúdico interactiva, destinada a familias pertenecientes a un centro educativo para la infancia de la localidad de Usaquén de Bogotá. Metodología: El estudio se desarrolló desde la perspectiva del diseño centrado en el usuario aplicando la metodología de investigación acción participativa con un grupo de 18 familias y utilizando las metodologías de taller y grupos focales en el proceso de reconocimiento del contexto y de evaluación de necesidades. Resultados: Se diseñó una estrategia mediada por las TIC, materializada en una aplicación para celular que incluye un juego con una rutina nocturna conectada a un muñeco electrónico, así como un cuento centrado en valores y tres infografías educativas en salud oral. Conclusión: Se obtuvo un recurso adaptado a las necesidades comunitarias con el que se espera generar un impacto en el aprendizaje para la adopción de prácticas que promuevan el autocuidado oral con un sentido, donde las TIC ayudan al desarrollo de actividades de aprendizaje innovadoras con un potencial didáctico y motivacional.
