Este trabalho discute os elementos da produção camponesa e a identificação indígena na comunidade Dom Pedro II, em Barcelos (AM). O objetivo geral é analisar uma particularidade do universo camponês encontrada em Barcelos. Os objetivos específicos são: caracterizar o modo de vida camponês, e apresentar a variável indígena como uma das formas de identificação dos informantes da pesquisa. O levantamento bibliográfico foi realizado para o uso dos conceitos: elementos da produção camponesa, modo de vida camponês e identificação indígena. Os dados primários foram coletados em trabalhos de campo, por meio de: aplicação de questionário, realização de entrevista semiestruturada, observação direta e registro fotográfico. O camponês representa a resistência de um modo de vida não capitalista. Esse sujeito realiza diversas atividades de trabalho: cultivo (agricultura, manejo de plantas medicinais na propriedade camponesa), extrativismo animal (pesca e caça) e extrativismo vegetal (coleta de frutas e de plantas medicinais). A atividade de pesca em Barcelos é diversificada, praticada durante todo o ano e atrelada ao ciclo hidrológico. Essa atividade atinge escalas de mercado que ultrapassam consideravelmente àquelas do trabalho com a agricultura. Em Barcelos, a presença indígena é datada de antes da colonização, período de grandes transformações no seu modo de vida e na sua organização. Atualmente, em Barcelos, a identidade indígena abrange relações reproduzidas pelo convívio entre os sujeitos e, principalmente, pelo comum e pelo coletivo compartilhado entre eles. O indígena se transformou como forma de resistência, tal qual o camponês. Portanto, as identidades são acionadas, conforme contexto, interesse e situação. As múltiplas identidades não confundem ou limitam o sujeito; ao contrário, revelam sua totalidade.
