El acogimiento residencial, es una de las respuestas del sistema de protección español más antiguo, para situaciones de desamparo. Históricamente su acción fue de carácter asistencial y benéfico. Lo que motivó que se realizaran ciertas críticas, que han acompañado al recurso de acogimiento residencial a lo largo de toda su evolución, y que, a día de hoy, siguen existiendo.Desde ésta premisa, el objetivo de la presente investigación ha sido aproximarse al acogimiento residencial en la Comunidad Valenciana, para comprobar la situación actual de los centros de acogida de menores (CAM). Desde una vertiente descriptiva, se presentará en este artículo un estudio de caso del centro de acogida “La Inmaculada”, ubicado en la localidad de Xàtiva, para conocer la realidad del recurso, y la valoración que del mismo realizan los implicados, a través de una combinación de técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas (observación, entrevista, cuestionario…), que posibilitan la obtención de diferentes perspectivas desde las que enfocar y comprender el fenómeno. Destacando como resultados de la investigación: que la implicación de los trabajadores es elevada, la intervención con los residentes es integral y que nos encontramos ante un CAM de perspectiva comunitaria.
El impacto del daño cerebral adquirido supone una pérdida de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud y la vida cotidiana, laboral y comunitaria. Además, sus consecuencias también repercuten en la red familiar. Desde la asociación Nueva Opción se pretende describir la calidad de vida en el entorno familiar de las personas con daño cerebral adquirido, así como determinar la satisfacción que experimentan las familias frente a las secuelas, contemplando la variable de edad y sexo. Para su análisis, se ha adaptado la Escala de calidad de vida familiar a la población atendida, midiendo así las relaciones intrafamiliares, el estado de salud y sus relaciones sociales y de ocio, entre otras, con el objetivo de determinar los apoyos que la persona con daño cerebral adquirido y su familia requieren para lograr su mejor inclusión y desarrollo. Como resultado principal cabe destacar que las variables sexo y edad implican distinción entre los sentimientos expresados.
