El estudio de la cultura celtibérica ha avanzado en los últimos años gracias al descubrimiento de nuevos yacimientos, al estudio de materiales depositados en los museos y a la revisión de la documentación antigua que está resultando muy reveladora. Sin embargo, falta una reflexión profunda sobre el tema, pues todavía pervive la inercia de antiguos presupuestos y métodos de estudio en muchas investigaciones. En este artículo se insiste en la necesidad de actualizar las bases metodológicas para conseguir de manera definitiva un registro arqueológico solvente que sirva de apoyo a las nuevas propuestas interpretativas y así conseguir un mejor conocimiento de la trayectoria histórica de aquellos pueblos prerromanos.
El estudio realizado sobre la caminería histórica de Pomer nos ha permitido plantear que al menos el origen de un antiguo vial, así como parte de sus restos visibles, podría estar relacionado con la buscada vía Bilbilis-Numancia, tradicionalmente asociada con el trazado de la N-234. Presentamos un estado de la cuestión actualizado con las formuladas por otros autores, así como las fuentes toponímicas, hodonímicas, documentales, cartográficas, geográficas y arqueológicas en las que basamos nuestra propuesta. El análisis de todas ellas nos lleva a plantear que el paso de la calzada se desviaba en Clarés de Ribota hacia Masegoso, pasando por Pomer y Borobia, y que en realidad constituye un empalme entre los itinerarios XXVII – Caesaraugusta-Asturica y XXV – Caesaraugusta-Emerita Augusta.
