Every human being grows and gets older. The elderly people tend to be susceptible to infection of chronic diseases, including hypertension. There are several factors that cause hypertension, such as psychological disorders. Psychological disorders that are often encountered are anxiety, stress, and even depression. The aim of this study was to examine the decrease in depression levels in the elderly who have hypertension through laughter therapy. Data were obtained from the elderly over 60 years as many as 8 people using the purposive samping and one-group pretest-posttest design technique. The instruments used for data collection were the Geriatric Depression Scale-Short Form (GDS-SF) and the Laughter Therapy Module. Data were analyzed using the Wilxocon signed rank test or match pair test method. The results of the study found that there was a decrease in the depression level from moderate to mild in hypertensive elderly before and after receiving laughter therapy. Setiap manusia berkembang dan berubah menjadi tua. Manusia lanjut usia atau lansia rentan mengalami penyakit kronis seperti hipetensi. Hipertensi dapat disebabkan oleh berbagai macam faktor, salah satunya gangguan psikologis. Gangguan psikologis yang sering dijumpai adalah kecemasan, stres, bahkan depresi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menguji penurunan tingkat depresi pada lansia yang memiliki penyakit hipertensi melalui terapi tertawa. Data diperoleh dari lanjut usia diatas 60 tahun sebanyak 8 orang menggunakan teknik purposive samping dan one-group pretest-posttest design. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengambilan data adalah Geriatric Depression Scale- Short Form (GDS-SF) dan Modul Terapi Tertawa. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode wilxocon signed rank test atau match pair test. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa ada penurunan tingkat depresi dari sedang ke ringan pada lansia dengan hipertensi sebelum dan setelah mendapatkan terapi tertawa.
