The host compound 3,3 0 -bis(9-hydroxy-9-fluorenyl)-2,2 0 -binaphthyl forms inclusion compounds with the isomers of picoline. Competition experiments show that the preferred selectivity is in the order 4PIC > 3PIC > 2PIC. The structures of the inclusion compounds formed with each picoline, as well as representative samples from the competition experiments, have been elucidated. The thermal stabilities of the inclusion compounds correlate with the selectivity results.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
