En este artículo se reflexiona sobre la Antropología de la Salud, entendida como un campo de convergencia entre las ciencias sociales y las ciencias biomédicas, para dar cuenta de sus posibilidades y desafíos en la disciplina de la salud pública. Se propone un enfoque dialógico crítico sobre los paradigmas que sustentan ambas disciplinas, configurando un espacio transdisciplinario que oriente la investigación y la docencia hacia la transformación de las condiciones de existencia que subyacen a las principales determinaciones de la salud y el bienestar de las personas y comunidades. A partir de la dicotomía mente-cuerpo en salud mental y salud reproductiva, se proponen tres áreas de tensión, con sus respectivas propuestas que hacen de la antropología una perspectiva única y poderosa para trabajar en el campo de la salud pública, a saber: tensión paradigmática y transdisciplinariedad; los dilemas entre lenguajes disciplinares y traducibilidad, así como la problemática entre antropología médica y antropología aplicada, proponiendo una antropología de la salud crítica, aplicada e implicada.
