Die Corona-Pandemie hat das zivilgesellschaftliche Engagement von Menschen im höheren Lebensalter schlagartig und bis auf Weiteres einschneidend verändert. Der Beitrag stellt die Ergebnisse einer qualitativen Interviewstudie in der Deutschschweiz ins Zentrum, die sich mit den unmittelbaren Auswirkungen der Corona-Pandemie auf das Engagement von Menschen im höheren Lebensalter (65 plus) sowie auf deren persönliche Lebenssituation als Angehörige einer Risikogruppe beschäftigt. Die Studie zeigt, wie die Befragten ihr Leben auch während der Pandemie aktiv gestalten und Wege finden, ihr Engagement aus der Distanz heraus fortzuführen. Ambivalent in den Erzählungen der Befragten bleibt insbesondere der Aspekt, sich einerseits fit, gesund und aktiv zu fühlen und andererseits pauschal zur vulnerablen Gruppe zu gehören, die am besten zu Hause bleiben soll.
