<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Uma forma de tratamento de resíduos oriundos de biomassa é o seu uso na geração de energia. Das tecnologias de conversão, a combustão é amplamente comercializada, sendo responsável pelo maior número de depósitos de patentes em âmbito mundial. A liquefação, a pirólise e a gaseificação são mais robustas, porém já amplamente utilizadas em países desenvolvidos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar um estudo prospectivo sobre processos termoquímicos, com o uso de biomassa, sob duas perspectivas: indicadores tecnológicos baseados em documentos patentários e indicadores científicos baseados em artigos científicos indexados, utilizando-se o programa de computador Orbit Intelligence, da Questel, e a plataforma de artigos científicos <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">Web of Science</span>. Com base nos resultados, e no cenário mundial relacionado a questões ambientais e energéticas, as tecnologias de conversão termoquímicas são viáveis e podem contribuir com os conceitos de química verde, economia circular e sustentabilidade, uma vez que estão dominadas e há grandes empresas comercializando sistemas que se adequam às características das mais diferentes biomassas.</p>
