Se presentan los resultados de las excavaciones realizadas en el sitio Yago (piedemonte oriental de Cumbres Calchaquíes), destacándose el patrón arquitectónico, inusual para los conocidos hasta el momento del Formativo en el área de estudio. Se presentan, asimismo, los resultados preliminares del análisis de los materiales recuperados en excavación (fauna, lítico, cerámica y de los microfósiles procedentes de artefactos de molienda). En base al análisis realizado se propone que Yago pudo tener una funcionalidad como espacio de almacenaje y un posterior uso para el depósitos de desechos
Se presenta el estado actual de las investigaciones arqueológicas realizadas en la Quebrada de Los Corrales (El Infiernillo, Tucumán, noroeste de Argentina). El área de estudio se ubica por encima de los 3000 msnm y comprende a la cuenca inferior, media y superior del río de Los Corrales. Los trabajos de investigación desarrollados hasta el momento, permitieron identificar evidencias arqueológicas correspondientes a distintos momentos del Holoceno medio y tardío, abarcando desde c. 7400 hasta c. 650 años AP. Esta larga secuencia ocupacional de unos 6700 años, convierte a la Quebrada de Los Corrales en un buen punto de partida para reflexionar acerca de diversos temas a escala tanto local como regional. Por una parte intentamos comprender los inicios de las ocupaciones por parte de grupos con una economía cazadora-recolectora durante el Holoceno medio, su transición hacia la producción de alimentos, el establecimiento pleno de sociedades aldeanas agro-pastoriles durante los primeros siglos del 1º milenio AD y las causas que generaron el abrupto fin de estas ocupaciones aldeanas hacia c. 1500 años AP. Por otra parte tratamos de interrelacionar la historia ocupacional de nuestra área de estudio con el desarrollo socio-cultural y ambiental de la región del noroeste argentino en tiempos prehispánicos.
