Contemporary society needs initiative and independent specialists capable of improving their professional skills continually. These specialists are notable for high sensibility, curiosity, readiness for rapid updating of knowledge and a wide range of skills. Thus, the main purpose of higher education is the development of new educational content ensuring relevance and competitiveness of graduates in the labor market. In this article, the authors investigate the research work of technical university students studying at Master's programs in the context of innovative changes in modern education. Research work is the process of shaping the future specialist by individual cognitive activities aimed at obtaining new knowledge, solving theoretical and practical problems, self-education and self-realization. The authors prove that research work is one of the mechanisms for the integration of higher professional education into a modern innovative society
Abstract-The current trend of higher education is the increasing share of independent individual and group work of students, as well as their practical and creative work. All these inevitably lead to the introduction of innovative educational technologies aimed at reaching syllabus goals. An active use of information and communication technologies enhances the learning in a content area and can be a great help to maintain the desired level of students' education. It allows advanced, diverse learning, drives motivation, creativity and learning outcomes. The authors make a review of the research on the use of blogs in foreign language teaching, discuss their benefits for both teachers and students, and share their experience of using blogs to promote learners' writing skills.
Abstract. The use of e-learning has become an important part of higher education. It expands the pedagogical resources, assists students in their learning, develops learners' skills, motivation and knowledge, prepares them for being productive in their workplaces of today's society. The paper provides the literature review regarding the use of e-learning, its advantages and disadvantages. The authors examine students' perception of e-learning courses based on the Moodle platform at National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University. The findings from a survey of 67 students reveal that the respondents highlighted the following advantages of e-learning courses: convenience, combination of theoretical and practical material, on-line testing and apprehensibility of the assessment criteria.
Bioinert metals are used for medical implants and in some industrial applications. This study was performed to detect and analyze peculiarities that appear in the temperature distributions during quasi-static tensile testing of bioinert alloys. These alloys include VT1-0 titanium, Zr-1%Nb and Ti-45%Nb in both coarse-grain (CG) and ultrafine-grain (UFG) states. The crystal structure, as well as the crystal domain and grain sizes of these alloys in the UFG state, may be different from the CG versions and identifying the thermal signatures that occur during their deformation and fracture is of interest, as it may lead to an understanding of physical processes that occur during loading. By comparing the surface temperature distributions of specimens undergoing deformation under tensile loading to the distributions at maximum temperatures it was found that the observed differences depend on the alloy type, the alloy structural state and the thermal properties of structural defects in the specimen. Macro-defects were found in some specimens of VT1-0 titanium, Zr-1Nb and Ti-45Nb alloys in both the CG and UFG states. The average tensile strength of specimens containing defects was lower than that of specimens with no defects. Infrared thermography documents change in the thermal patterns of specimens as they are deformed under tensile loading and when the load stops changing or the specimen breaks.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
