Las actividades de docencia e investigación han llevado a las universidades a reunir un considerable patrimonio cultural y científico. Estas colecciones universitarias son poco conocidas por el gran público y muchas veces, pese a estar compuestas por materiales muy similares, aparecen dispersas en las diferentes unidades de información en que se organizan los centros universitarios: bibliotecas, archivos y museos, entre otros. La corriente GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) es consciente de aquello que une a estas entidades y llama elaborar acciones conjuntas y a presentar de forma unitaria su riqueza patrimonial. Se estudia si la tendencia GLAM ha penetrado en las 33 universidades europeas mejor posicionadas en el ranquin ARWU (2019). Para ello se analizan sus sitios web patrimoniales con el fin de ver como se organizan para el tratamiento de sus colecciones y si las bibliotecas y los archivos, tienen un espacio en ellos. Los resultados del estudio permiten concluir que el patrimonio universitario sigue disperso, y que solo desde finales del siglo XX, gracias a las posibilidades de Internet, empiezan a colaborar realmente. Sin embargo, bibliotecas y archivos tienen aún un papel demasiado reducido e incluso una baja presencia en las webs que presentan esta herencia. Sería deseable aprovechar mejor los conocimientos en tratamiento de la información de estas instituciones y se propone un sistema que permitiría una mejora de las condiciones de la herencia cultural y científica con el apoyo de gran parte de la comunidad universitaria y con un papel relevante de bibliotecas y archivos.
Se presentan los resultados de una prueba piloto de estudio e impulso de dos herramientas de apoyo de voz en la lectura, ClaroRead y ReadSpeak, en la Universitat de Barcelona, como ejemplo de aplicación de los principios de diseño curricular universal. Para valorar su impacto se realizan diferentes modalidades de encuestas y tests de uso en las que participó una muestra de alumnos bastante numerosa, y también una entrevista orientada al profesorado. Los resultados permiten conocer problemas de lectura de los usuarios, y las mejoras aportadas por la lectura multimodal.
El objetivo del trabajo es conocer la opinión del profesorado de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB) de la nueva herramienta de descubrimiento del Centre de Recursos per a l'Aprenentatge i la Investigació (CRAI), Cercabib (http://cercabib.ub.edu/iii/encore/). En 2018, Cercabib sustituyó los anteriores sistemas de recuperación de información de la UB, fusionando en un único entorno de búsqueda el Catàleg de les biblioteques (https://cataleg.ub.edu/) y el ReCercador+ (http://mlplus.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do), y convirtiéndose en la ventanilla única de búsqueda simultánea de todos los fondos del CRAI independientemente del soporte, tipología o ubicación del recurso. Cercabib basa su filosofía de búsqueda en tres pilares: a) caja única de búsqueda para todos los recursos; b) buscar por palabra clave siempre, también en los filtros o en la búsqueda avanzada; i c) acceso directo a los recursos electrónicos desde la herramienta.Como en cualquier proceso de cambio, la implementación de una nueva herramienta de descubrimiento puede generar diversidad de opiniones entre sus usuarios. La introducción de nuevas interfaces gráficas, de nuevas funcionalidades y de una nueva filosofía de búsqueda basada en la consulta simultánea de todos los fondos del CRAI puede satisfacer a una parte de ellos, pero también puede generar reacciones adversas, ya sea por el propio hecho del cambio (la incomodidad de tener que aprender algo nuevo), por el desconocimiento de la herramienta o por posibles carencias o errores en el diseño del sistema. Conocer las opiniones de los usuarios de Cercabib ha de servir para mejorar el servicio ofrecido por el CRAI ya sea por medio de campañas de difusión y formación orientadas a necesidades no detectadas inicialmente o a través de la modificación de aquellos elementos de información o de acción del buscador identificados por los usuarios como problemáticos. Además, puesto que el perfil y las necesidades de los usuarios de la Universitat de Barcelona son similares a las de otros centros académicos del mundo, tanto la metodología del estudio como sus conclusiones pueden ser de utilidad para otras bibliotecas universitarias que recientemente también hayan sustituido su catálogo por una nueva herramienta de descubrimiento.
