Communication is what enables our being to articulate our feelings, thoughts and transmit our knowledge. The choice of words, our facial expressions and body gestures, and the observance of the rules depend on the place and the public with whom we establish contact. We learn communication skills and thus gain (self)value, which is related to our performance, both in private and professional life. The paper focuses on internal communication, which interdependently influences not only the establishment of better relationships within and between different publics in the company, but also the one that establishes a more creative work environment. Communication approaches are those that enable the performance of work tasks in a faster and more efficient way and further raise the level of productivity. It is clear that it is very important who, to whom, through which channel, and for what purpose, communicates something, as internal communication is the main obstacle to the (non)success of the particular company.
Critical infrastructure are facilities that are crucial for the smooth functioning of the state. Disruption of critical infrastructure can affect people's lives. From this point of view, it is important that employees with appropriate competencies operate in such infrastructures. These competencies can be collected in the competency model. This is a list of competencies that describe the characteristics of the employee in terms of skills, knowledge, behaviour, and experience. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the main features of competency models in critical infrastructures. This represents an opportunity for further research and implementation of competency models in critical infrastructure systems. However, since it all starts at the top, we discuss the competencies of managers. The integration of competency models into critical infrastructures is an important area, as such models make it easier and faster to acquire key employees.
Današnje globalno, konkurenčno in hitro spreminjajoče se okolje vodilne postavlja pred mnoge izzive, med katerimi pomembno vlogo igra skrb za zaposlene. Naloga je, da ugotovijo, kako ravnati in doseči, da bodo zaposleni v organizacije prispevali kar največ. Le tako lahko podjetje stremi k uspešnosti, razvoju in preživetju na trgu. Posledično morajo vodilni kadri imeti in razvijati kompetence, ki so ključne pri uspešnem vodenju. Vodilni kadri v bolnišnicah pa imajo še mnogo težjo nalogo, saj morajo imeti razvite specifične kompetence, potrebne za obvladovanje take infrastrukture. V kolikor vodilni nimajo teh potrebnih kompetenc je lahko ogroženo življenje ljudi. Cilj prispevka je ugotoviti, katere se dejanske in potrebne kompetence vodilnih kadrov v bolnišnici in kateri dejavniki vplivajo na njihove kompetence. Rezultati kažejo, da se potrebne in dejanske kompetence vodilnih v bolnišnici ne razlikujejo v veliki meri. Samo vodilni kader z ustreznimi kompetencami lahko uspešno vodi tako veliko organizacijo kot bolnišnica je.

Managerji kritične infrastrukture imajo še mnogo težjo nalogo, saj morajo poleg osnovnih kompetenc imeti razvite tudi specifične kompetence, potrebne za obvladovanje take infrastrukture. V kolikor nimajo teh kompetenc je lahko ogroženo življenje ljudi. V tem poglavju se bomo posvetili kompetencam, razumevanju pojma kritična infrastruktura in na koncu pogledali, katere kompetence potrebuje manager kritične infrastrukture.
