Las industrias pesqueras son los sectores alimentarios fundamentales e importantes en todo el mundo. Siendo Perú uno de los países con mayor producción de harina y aceite de pescado a nivel mundial. Sin embargo, debido a sus procesos productivos los efluentes causan impactos perjudiciales al medio ambiente. Esta investigación aplicó el tratamiento de electrocoagulación a las aguas residuales pesqueras para reducir los siguientes parámetros: aceites y grasas (AyG), demanda bioquímica de oxígeno (DBO), sólidos suspendidos totales (SST), turbidez, conductividad, pH y demanda química de oxígeno. Para ello se diseñó un reactor de material acrílico de medidas de 25 cm de largo, 15 cm de ancho y 14 cm de altura, con un volumen de 2 L. Los efluentes pesqueros de aceite de pescado y harina de pescado fueron sometidos a una densidad de corriente de 5 V y 10 V en los periodos de 5 y 10 min. Los resultados revelaron que se obtuvieron un valor final de 25 mg/L y 18.05 mg/L de AyG, 3156 mg/L y 3297 mg/L de DBO, 284 mg y 220 mg de SST, 7.16 NTU y 1.75 NTU de turbidez, 5197 mg/L y 10056 mg/L de DQO, 17.52 mS/cm y 20 mS/cm de conductividad y 7.51 y 7.32 de pH de efluentes de aceite de pescado y harina de pescado, respectivamente. El método aplicado de electrocoagulación demostró eficiencia y rentabilidad para tratar efluentes provenientes de industrias pesqueras, ya que se observó variación en los parámetros fisicoquímicos evaluados.
La industria láctea es la más importante del sector de alimentos en todo el mundo, debido a que producen alimentos indispensables, como la leche, yogurt, queso y mantequilla. Sin embargo, la gran demanda de productos, las actividades generadas en su proceso productivo, causan impactos negativos en el medio ambiente, contaminado la atmosfera, el agua y suelo. En base a esta problemática se plantea diversos tratamientos biológicos, físico-químico y electroquímico. El tratamiento biológico se puede dar de manera anaeróbica y aeróbica, muchos de ellos son buenos para eliminar algunos contaminantes de las aguas residuales, pero presentan en el proceso de biodegradación como limitación la producción lodos, en cambio el tratamiento físico- químico no es muy empleado y presenta la dificultad que los reactivos utilizados en este tratamiento para remover la demanda química de oxígeno son muy caros, por otro lado el tratamiento electroquímico, es un método que en los últimos años se está usando con mayor frecuencia, entre los cuales se encuentra la electrocoagulación. La electrocoagulación es un tratamiento muy eficiente y sencillo, frecuentemente empleado para tratar efluentes de las industrias lácteas, con óptimos resultados en corto plazo (demanda química de oxígeno en 58%, en un 100% la turbidez y en 95% los sólidos suspendidos volátiles)
