As descobertas são do lado de dentro ou de fora, do avesso ou do direito, de cima ou de baixo, de ontem ou de amanhã? Para quem tenha olhos para ver e ouvidos para ouvir, a geografia e a ficção se misturam e envolvem o viajante. Para a viajante que fez a primeira viagem por Minas, num ônibus do curso colegial, acompanhada da primeira edição de Corpo de baile, reconhecendo a paisagem externa e vivenciando a interna no Mutum, com Miguilim, Dito, Mãe, tio Terez, parecia uma viagem sem volta. Ou com infinitas voltas. Muito tempo depois, outra viagem à Minas em busca do cenário onde se dá o primeiro encontro de Riobaldo e Diadorim: o pequeno rio De-janeiro que encontra o São Francisco no município de Três Marias. Será que um filme contando a estória daquele encontro iniciático precisaria ser rodado no cenário descrito por Guimarães Rosa? Afinal, a simbologia do batismo e do fluir das águas estaria em qualquer rio. Mas ver com os próprios olhos e tocar com as mãos foi encontrar o rio, os rios, Manuelzão, Dona Didi, Andrequicé, o ar e as estrelas do sertão, com os Gerais correndo em volta.
