Resumo-Os indicadores de qualidade (IQ) são instrumentos de grande relevância utilizados pelo governo federal que visam demonstrar se um determinado curso, instituição ou média dos alunos concludentes de um curso de graduação estão dentro dos padrões mínimos de qualidade. Nesse sentido, este estudo objetivou verificar os IQ dos cursos de administração ofertados pelas instituições de ensino superior (IES) do município de Taubaté-SP. Na Metodologia, para a coleta dos dados, foram realizadas buscas nos sites do Ministérios da Educação e Cultura (MEC) e do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP). Os resultados mostraram que apenas uma instituição não possuía nem o credenciamento do curso junto ao MEC, nem os IQ na página digital do INEP. Em 2018, apenas uma IES obteve nota quatro no ENADE e, desde que o exame foi criado, apenas uma outra IES, em 2012, conseguiu obter a nota máxima cinco. Por fim, conclui-se que, apesar dos indicadores de qualidade estarem acima da média, algumas IES possuem baixos ou não possuem índices relativos ao ENADEimpactando negativamente na captação de futuros alunos. Introdução De acordo com Pryjma (2008), conforme citado por Emmel e Krul (2017), no Brasil existem dois tipos de universidades, as privadas e as públicas. Os autores destacaram que as funções básicas dessas instituições são o ensino, a pesquisa e a extensão. De acordo com Garcia et al. (2014), as instituições de ensino superior (IES) do setor privado se posicionam como instituições que têm hoje uma função decisiva na educação superior. As IES, principalmente as privadas, são destino de boa parte dos brasileiros, que buscam melhores qualificações visando a conquista de boas vagas de emprego no mercado de trabalho. Para Britto et al. (2008), conforme citado por Garcia (2014), a demanda para a capacitação profissional do trabalhador começou a crescer na década de 1990, especialmente no setor privado. Assim, o ensino superior passou a incluir a concepção de mercado para a sua realidade. Nesse contexto, no período de 1980 a 2016, no Brasil, o número de IES apresentou um crescimento total de 172,9%. Em números absolutos, a quantidade de IES chegou ao valor de 2.407. Nesse mesmo período, as IES públicas cresceram 48% e as privadas 209,53%, sendo que no ano de 2016 existiam 2.111 instituições privadas e 296 públicas (SEMESP, 2018). Segundo o MEC (2018?a), para que uma IES possa iniciar suas atividades, é necessário solicitar o credenciamento junto ao Ministério de Educação e Cultura (MEC) e essas instituições de ensino superior podem ser credenciadas como: faculdades, centros universitários ou universidades. As IES são avaliadas pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP) e os resultados são expressos por indicadores de qualidade da educação superior.
