O presente artigo tem como objeto de estudo os museus escolares introduzidos em escolas brasileiras no final do século 19 e ao longo do século 20. Sua motivação partiu da constatação que existiram diversas propostas, formas de operacionalizar e diferentes objetos nomeados museus escolares. Buscamos, a partir disso, identificar diferenças em impressos pedagógicos e na legislação do ensino, privilegiando o Estado de Santa Catarina como contexto de referência para mobilizar o segundo tipo documental. Como resultado, chegamos a seis acepções que assumem formatos distintos, embora visem ao mesmo objetivo: tornar os meios de ensino mais concretos. Apresentar tais acepções é o objetivo principal deste artigo, que se insere na discussão acerca dos materiais de ensino e de sua introdução na escola.
R e s u m o : O presente artigo tem como tema central a constituição da caixa escolar nas escolas públicas primárias de Santa Catarina na primeira metade do século XX. Tal iniciativa, fomentada pelo poder público, visava à assistência aos estudantes pobres por meio de doação de materiais escolares, de uniforme, merenda, transporte e cuidados médicos e dentários. A reflexão aqui apresentada apoia-se em documentos produzidos pelo Estado, tais como leis, decretos, regulamentos e circulares, além de outros, produzidos pelas escolas, sobretudo relatórios contendo a descrição das atividades inerentes à caixa escolar. Considera-se que a análise contribui para a compreensão de políticas que serão implementadas ao longo dos anos, dentro e fora do contexto escolar. A b s t r a c t : This article has as central theme the constitution of the school fund in the primary public schools of Santa Catarina in the first half of the twentieth century. This initiative, promoted by the public authority, aimed at assisting impoverished students through the donation of school material, uniforms, meals, transportation and medical and dental care. The reflection presented here is based on documents produced by the State, such as laws, decrees, regulations and circulars, in addition to others produced by schools, especially reports containing the description of the activities inherent to the school fund. It is considered that the analysis contributes to the understanding of policies that will be implemented over the years inside and outside the school context.
