nỹ é como se autodenominam os povos indígenas mais conhecidos na literatura antropológica como "Karajá". As aldeias inỹ estão localizados na região central do Brasil (GO, TO, MT e PA). William Lipkind (1904Lipkind ( -1974, antropólogo estadunidense, coletou nessa região, entre 1938 e 1939, cerca de 527 artefatos, sendo 264 classificados como pertencentes ao subgrupo "Karajá" 1 . Durante cerca de 80 anos, a coleção William Lipkind esteve localizada no Setor de Etnologia e Etnografia do Museu Nacional (SEE/MN) do Rio de Janeiro. Até o dia 02 de Setembro de 2018, quando foi violentamente destruída junto um acervo que extrapola 15 milhões de itens, durante o incêndio de grandes proporções que atingiu o edifício histórico que abrigava o Museu Nacional.O presente trabalho, que foi desenvolvido durante minha graduação, é uma análise das bykyrè (esteiras) do subgrupo "Karajá", tendo como eixo central 6 esteiras da referida coleção (Prancha I -A). Busquei explorar a circulação das bykyrè no cotidiano e nos rituais inỹ, a partir das relações de bròtyrè, e refletir sobre a presença da esteira como tema contextual em pesquisas de estágio de alunos inỹ do Núcleo Takinahakỹ
