In recent years there has been a great interest in the application of natural dyes in dyeing textiles due to their biodegradability and high compatibility with the environment. According to the experts, there is a great potential for using natural dyes to the extent that in some areas they can very easily replace synthetic ones. This paper reports the studies available on the characterization, classification and analysis of natural dyes; extraction of dyes from onion's outer shell and effects of different mordants and mordanting methods on the color shade. From an environmental point of view, replacing synthetic dyes with natural ones is not only a strategy to reduce risk and pollutants, but also an opportunity for new markets and jobs.
Conventional chemical processes are generally severe and fi bre damage may occur. Enzymes are characterized by their ability to operate under mild conditions and as a result processes can be carried out without further damaging the fi bers. Enzymes are also readily biodegradable and therefore potentially harmless and environmentally friendly. Biopolishing enzymes used in biopolishing, off ers a number of benefi ts such as improvement in pill resistance, superior colour brightness, softness and cooler feel. Biopolishing treatment, given to the cotton fabrics using cellulases, often infl uences dyebility and certain physical properties of the fabrics after treatments. This work represents a review of behavior of cellulase treatment on dyeability and various properties of cotton fabrics.
Clothing and fashion allow the multiplication of multiple personalities into one human being. The tendency to be "someone else", even if it is only with some detail in the clothes, is based on the possibility of transformation of the individual. That transformation is done by masking man, more precisely, the aspiration of one person to transform at least for a short period of time. The possibilities offered by fashion, that a person can be someone else with the help of clothes, cosmetics or make-up are really great. One of the most important functions of clothing and apparel is to achieve a sense of spiritual balance. In fact, with the help of clothing, certain shortcomings of a person are compensated and, in that way, a certain psychological balance is achieved. The extent to which following fashion reduces the feeling of inferiority is seen in the fact that in most countries fashion is most closely followed by young people and immigrants, because it seems to them that dressing according to the latest fashion equals them with others.
The introduction of the concept of "sustainability" in the construction industry has led to the production of alternative insulation products made of textiles from virgin or recycled materials, besides the conventional ones. Some of them are already present in the European market, while others are still being researched. There is no ideal insulation material, so it is useful to evaluate conventional and alternative insulating materials. The assessment of insulation materials is an issue which needs to be analyzed from diff erent aspects: the physical properties of the material, their eff ect on people and the environment, installation diffi culty and price. In this paper, conventional and alternative insulation materials from textiles are examined in terms of sustainability criteria. Insulation materials from recycled textiles are considered sustainable materials due to the possibility of recycling, reuse and low value of embodied energy. However, as a result of insuffi cient consumer awareness, insulating materials from textiles are not represented in the markets as much as they deserve to be.
The eff orts of fashion modellers, designers, and manufacturers to produce clothing for the modern man have led to a huge variety of stylistic tendencies when designing the clothes. However, they are based on both archetypal principles related to the immutability of the physical parameters of the human body and its psycho-physical needs, related to the design, production, sale and use of clothing. The artist and fashion designer, as well as all the other fi gures in the consumer-creator chain, are rethinking their role. The value of clothing as a work of art comes to the fore, but it is also very important for the modern man to be signifi cative with the help of clothes which the wearer wears as information on his cultural and philosophical doctrine. The relationship between art and costume is atypical for an average person, but only for one who has a particularly thorough knowledge of both objects and understands that fashion is part of applied art (which means that fashion is on its own wayvery individual specifi c kind of art). In connection with the above works, the object of my research is the process of emulation, processing and applying the artistic experience of XX century painting -i.e. Surrealism in the costume of XX and XXI centuries. How was the transfer of the artistic elements of painting done, their adaptation and modifi cation in some of the most emblematic models of world-famous designers working in the XX and XXI centuries. Nadrealizam u nošnji XX i XXI veka.
