Research voor Beleid onderzocht in opdracht van het ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport hoe allochtone jongeren beter kunnen worden bereikt met interventies ter bevordering van de seksuele gezondheid. Het onderzoek bestond uit diepte-interviews met 40 allochtone jongeren en 25 professionals. In het onderzoek is een breed scala aan determinanten van problemen met de seksuele gezondheid van deze doelgroepen geïdentificeerd. Zo zijn de geïnterviewde jongeren seksueel zeer actief en hebben ze onvoldoende kennis over soa's en anticonceptie. Jongens hebben veelal een dominante positie binnen de (seksuele) relatie en bepalen of er een condoom wordt gebruikt. Met name Surinaamse en Antilliaanse meiden hebben een onrealistisch beeld van jong moederschap. Vooral voor moslima's is seks voor het huwelijk onbespreekbaar wat hen kwetsbaar en chantabel maakt. Voor de meeste geïnterviewde jongeren geldt dat onbekendheid met de GGD, desinteresse en angst ertoe leiden dat zij te lang met een soa blijven rondlopen. Aanbevolen wordt dat interventies zich bij voorkeur richten op zowel kennisvermeerdering, als op mentaliteits-en gedragsverandering. Meer respect voor en het aangeven van grenzen is essentieel. Verder zou de voorlichting gegeven moeten op een niet belerende, maar wel serieuze toon, door iemand die door de doelgroep vertrouwd en gerespecteerd wordt. Ook verdient het aanbeveling voorlichting op scholen te geven, en interventies ook te richten op ouders. Belangrijke succesfactoren bij het aanbieden van soa-testen zijn laagdrempeligheid, naar jongeren toegaan, anonimiteit en niets in rekening brengen. Verder is van belang dat er bij de ontwikkeling en uitvoering van interventies sprake is van samenwerking tussen de doelgroep zelf, bijvoorbeeld in de vorm van een lokale migrantenorganisatie, en een professionele organisatie zoals de GGD. Tenslotte is er winst te behalen door meer te investeren in het verzamelen en uitdragen van kennis over effectief gebleken interventies ter bevordering van seksuele gezondheid, en het coördineren van de implementatie hiervan.Trefwoorden: publieke gezondheid, seksuele gezondheid, allochtonen, voorlichting en preventie Inleiding Seksuele gezondheid is, volgens de definitie van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO) 'een staat van lichamelijk, emotioneel, mentaal en maatschappelijk welbevinden met betrekking tot seksualiteit'. Uit deze definitie wordt duidelijk dat seksuele gezondheid niet alleen staat voor de afwezigheid van ziekten, maar ook voor een positieve, veilige en respectvolle beleving van seks.Het gaat goed met de seksuele gezondheid van Nederlandse jongeren, zo wordt geconcludeerd in onderzoek uit 2005 van de Rutgers Nisso Groep en Soa Aids Nederland. 1 Ook in vergelijking met andere landen neemt Nederland een gunstige positie in als het gaat om seksuele gezondheid. 2 Echter uit dit onderzoek 1 komt ook naar voren dat bepaalde groepen allochtonen een hoger risico lopen op problemen met de seksuele gezondheid.
