Die vorliegende Monographie ist die geringfügig überarbeitete Fassung meiner Dissertationsschrift, die im Sommersemester 2019 vom Fachbereich Literatur-, Kunstund Medienwissenschaften an der Universität Konstanz angenommen wurde.Der erste und wichtigste Dank gebührt meiner Doktormutter Prof. Dr. Barbara Feichtinger. Sie hat mich nicht nur in zahlreichen Gesprächen an den Autor und Menschen Hieronymus herangeführt, den Einbezug digitaler Methoden angestoßen und die Arbeit in allen Phasen ihres Entstehens sowohl geduldig begleitet wie mit wohlwollender Kritik gefördert, sondern mir auch in wissenschaftlicher und menschlicher Hinsicht vieles vermittelt.Besonders herzlicher Dank gebührt meinem zweiten Betreuer Prof. Dr. Thomas Weitin. Seine wertvollen Denkanstöße bei der Implementierung computergestützter Verfahren und seine Anregungen zum Nachdenken über ihre Auswirkungen auf die literaturwissenschaftlichen Arbeitsweisen sind der Untersuchung zugutegekommen.
