seen as a constraint or a resource. In this article, we investigate organizational time and time as experienced by trainee engineers (TE) and their engineering tutors (ET) in the work-based training contexts. Our focus is on the link between training time and the construction of knowledge and professional competence. Eleven pairs of TE/ET were interviewed and their discourse was analysed through two complementary levels (lexical and thematic). The perceptions of organizational and experienced time, by TEs and ETs are characterized and some implications for the training of engineers in workbased programs are proposed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
