La enseñanza como actividad primordial del docente está profundamente influenciada por las experiencias, preparación profesional, circunstancias y contexto que rodean su labor; el influjo de estos componentes se refleja a través de los enfoques didácticos que emplee como guía para alcanzar su finalidad en la educación de sus estudiantes y, en consecuencia, a través de estas perspectivas impactar en la calidad de los aprendizajes. Este estudio expone los enfoques didácticos empleados por los docentes de la Escuela Particular William Tell, ubicada en la ciudad de Quito–Ecuador; ejecutado a través de la aplicación del cuestionario de Caracterización de los Enfoques de Enseñanza (CEE) adaptación de Manuel Soler, constituido por las categorías: enfoque activo CCCE que prioriza al estudiante en el proceso educativo como constructor de su aprendizaje, y enfoque tradicional TICP que centra al docente como transmisor del conocimiento a ser depositado en el estudiante; los resultados demuestran que 6 docentes aplican en su enseñanza un enfoque activo de intensidad débil, mientras que 4 docentes aplican un enfoque tradicional de intensidad débil y 1 docente aplica un enfoque indefinido; estos resultados exponen la necesidad del perfeccionamiento en las prácticas docentes, de acuerdo a sus realidades individuales y al contexto donde se desenvuelven; denotando la importancia de diagnosticar los enfoques de enseñanza para contribuir a una evolución efectiva de las prácticas educativas.
