Depression as a cause of suicidal idealization development in the elderly and its consequences in the family contextAbstract: Ideas of death and dying are common phenomena in older people, noting that in many countries this is a larger range in terms of the suicide risk group. Even if there is no lethality in some of the attempts, the act itself is the characterization of strong ideation, which may imply probable recidivism. It is recognized that there are many factors that lead to suicidal ideation, among them depression. This article reflects the subject in light of the specialized literature. It is relevant to have public policies of coping with depression in this age group as a way of preventing suicidal behavior.
