Introduction: Frequent episodic tension-type headache (FETTH), is described as frequent episodes of pain, located on both sides of the head, as a feeling of pressure or tightening, from mild to moderate intensity which may last from 30 minutes to seven days. The pain does not worsen with routine physical effort and may present photophobia or phonophobia. In this case, headache is one of the most common reasons for the complaint of children and adolescents, and it is a major problem among college students because it leads to the loss of study days and a decrease in academic performance. Objective: The aim of the present study was to conduct a survey on the prevalence of FETTH in students of Physiotherapy course of Centro Universitário do Triângulo (Unitri). Method: The research was done with the students registered in Physiotherapy course, in the second half of 2015, from the application of a questionnaire about the International Classification of Headache, according to the diagnostic criteria for FETTH. Result: Among the students, 18 (7.5%) presented FETTH, based on these classification criteria, but it was expected that 50% of the students expose symptoms indicative of TTHEF. Conclusion: It is concluded that FETTH is a type of headache that is not very prevalent in the academic context of the Physiotherapy course of the referred institution.
Background:The importance of evaluating the user's perspective when dealing with the quality of health services has been a constant and the user's role as protagonist of this system has a direct impact on improving service. Thus, it is essential to know how users evaluate the care provided to rethink professional practices or intervene in the form of organization of services, to its improvement. Objectives: Assess the degree of patient satisfaction through MedRisk Instrument and identify the item that has the greatest impact on overall satisfaction. Methods/Design: The users of a university clinic of physical therapy, in rheumatology and pediatrics sectors, were asked about their degree of satisfaction, using MedRisk instrument. Results: Forty-six users completed the questionnaire. The 2 global measures means were 4,86 and 4,86 in rheumatology sector; and 4,76 and 4,84 in pediatrics sector. The specific items that had higher level of satisfaction and the highest correlation with overall satisfaction were items 6, 7, 8 and 11. Conclusion: The university physiotherapy clinic was assessed with a high degree of satisfaction to its users and items related to the therapist-patient interaction have more influence on overall satisfaction. Thus demonstrating that the MedRisk instrument is effective, functional and wide applicability.
This study aimed to compare men and women on muscle strength, pain, physical function, and gait spatiotemporal parameters at three speeds, verifying the correlation between variables. Forty-two individuals with KOA (21 women) participated in this cross-sectional study. They were assessed using the visual analog pain scale (VAS) and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Index (WOMAC), lower limb isometric muscle strength, and gait kinematics on a treadmill at three speeds. The results revealed that women had worse clinical measures (WOMAC and muscle strength) (p < 0.006) and reduced step length (p < 0.05). The results also showed that women had more variables correlated with step length and stronger correlations (r = 0.33 to 0.83) than men. In conclusion, the moderate to strong correlation between step length and clinical measures observed for women suggests that step length could be a suitable parameter for assessing women with KOA. Also, the critical role of clinical measures indicates that it could be beneficial to associate the usual intervention with a psychosocial approach for women.
