RESUMOAs principais complicações do Diabetes Mellitus são a neuropatia diabética periférica (NDP) e a vasculopatia diabética periférica (VDP), que geram perda da sensibilidade superficial e profunda, déficit muscular e disfunção autonômica, podendo comprometer equilíbrio corporal, controle postural e descarga de peso nos pés. Avaliar a distribuição das pressões plantares e o equilíbrio corporal, durante a postura estática, em diabéticos acometidos por NDP e VDP. Foram avaliados 48 sujeitos: Grupo Controle (n= 29) e Grupo Diabético (n= 19). Foi utilizado um baropodômetro eletrônico para a coleta de pressão plantar e estabilometria corporal. Entre os grupos, não houve diferença significante (p>0,05) nos valores de pressão plantar, enquanto na estabilometria, os valores das oscilações tiveram diferença significante (p<0,05). Os indivíduos do Grupo Diabético apresentaram déficit de equilíbrio na avaliação estabilométrica, portanto, infere-se que a NDP e a VDP foram capazes de gerar tais prejuízos ao equilíbrio corporal. Palavras-chave: Diabetes mellitus; Neuropatias diabéticas; Vasculopatia diabética; pressão plantar; Equilíbrio postural. -INTRODUÇÃODentre as complicações crônicas do diabetes mellitus encontram-se a neuropatia diabética periférica (NDP) e a vasculopatia diabética periférica (VDP). A associação destas causa o chamado "pé diabético", o qual representa o evento final das complicações crônicas do DM, sendo responsável pela maior parte das amputações das extremidades inferiores dessa população (1, 2).A VDP gera déficit na circulação sanguínea em membros inferiores, caracterizado pela obstrução aterosclerótica progressiva das artérias dos membros inferiores (3).Devido à NDP, pode ocorrer perda progressiva da sensibilidade somatossensorial, propriocepção, função muscular e funções autonômicas (4). Atingindo nervos motores pode gerar atrofia muscular, principalmente na musculatura intrínseca do pé, com consequente diminuição da mobilidade articular, deformidades e diminuição da amplitude de movimento que, associadas, podem gerar aumento das pressões plantares (5).Concomitantemente, as deformidades e a perda da mobilidade modificam a carga biomecânica do pé, aumentando a suscetibilidade do tecido plantar hiperqueratinizar, levando a
