La queilitis granulomatosa de Miescher (QGM) es una entidad poco común, que se caracteriza por una tumefacción labial recurrente. Representa la forma monosintomática del síndrome de Melkersson-Rosenthal, definido por edema labial, parálisis facial y lengua fisurada. El diagnóstico se realiza mediante los hallazgos clínicos confirmados con la histología, en la que se evidencian granulomas no caseificantes. No hay un tratamiento de elección y la respuesta a estos es variable. Se presenta el caso de una paciente con QGM que tuvo una excelente evolución tras el tratamiento con hidroxicloroquina.
Antecedentes: se realizó una comparación epidemiológica entre los pacientes con diagnóstico de melanoma cutáneo en el Hospital Universitario Austral (HUA) en dos períodos de tiempo. Objetivos: conocer el perfil epidemiológico de los pacientes del Hospital, comparar esas características en ambas poblaciones y si existen diferencias en el momento del diagnóstico. Materiales y métodos: se evaluaron los melanomas cutáneos diagnosticados durante el período A (2000-2008) y el período B (2009-2021). Se compararon ambos en cuanto a las siguientes variables: sexo, edad, localización del melanoma, subtipo histológico, espesor tumoral y ulceración. Resultados: se incluyeron 578 melanomas cutáneos diagnosticados por dermatólogos del Hospital. Se observó en ambos grupos un leve predominio masculino (56,5% en el período A vs. 55,7% en el período B). La media de edad en el momento del diagnóstico fue de 51,42 + 1,77 años y de 54,54 + 0,78 años respectivamente. La localización más frecuente fue en el tronco (44,4% y 46,6% respectivamente). El melanoma extensivo superficial fue el subtipo más frecuente (62,8% vs. 64,4% respectivamente). La mediana de espesor tumoral en el momento del diagnóstico fue de 0,65 mm en el período A y de 0,90 mm en el período B. En el período A el 15% de los melanomas cutáneos presentaron ulceración, mientras que en el período B, fue el 9%. No se observaron diferencias significativas. Conclusiones: no se encontraron diferencias entre ambos períodos, como cabría esperar dada la mayor difusión de las campañas de prevención del cáncer de piel y el uso más extendido de herramientas diagnósticas.
